About NiaCCFD
Over a decade of teaching at Addis Ababa University; supervising MA theses and PhD dissertations on child development and family issues, and conducting research on the same topics inspired the founder of the Center (an Associate Professor of Psychology) that there is a need to set up an institution whose foremost aim is providing high quality professional support and services for children and families. This conviction was further strengthened by the experiences gained through her proactive engagement in voluntary services such as teaching young school kids about adolescent development and life skills; participating in Parent Teacher Associations, as well as being a member advisory board of various organizations working on education and other social issues. All of these led to the establishment of Nia Center for Children and Family Development (NiaCCFD) in 2013 to provide high quality services including counseling and training to children, families and institutions and to conduct research. The Center aims to be a preferred choice for partnerships that support and promote the psychological and social well-being of children and families. It also seeks to become a hub for service provision, cutting edge research and information dissemination in the areas of children and families.
